High winds are causes outages across Connecticut and much of the northeast today. Eversource reports 219 (2.36%) Bethel customers without power, out of 9,272 served. Eversource customers out of power in Fairfield county is 2,948 out of 266,436 customers tracked, according to Poweroutage.us, and 12,076 Eversource customers in total are experiencing the outage presently (Last Updated: 2024-03-11 03:36:28 PM)
Eversource advises that you do not go near downed power lines, poles or damaged electrical equipment. Leave the area if you smell gas.
An Urgent Weather Message has been issued by the National Weather Service: A Wind Advisory is in effect until 11:00 p.m. Monday evening with Northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph, effecting Portions of southern Connecticut, northeast New Jersey, and southeast New York.
Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution and secure outdoor objects, advises the NWS.
