Fort Worth, TX – A 27-year-old man from Euless, Jaylyn Jessie, was arrested overnight following a series of alleged thefts in Fort Worth and a high-speed police chase that extended into Dallas, according to authorities. Police say Jessie had stolen multiple catalytic converters, a crime that has become increasingly common due to the high resale value of the parts.
Suspect Spotted During Thefts
Fort Worth Police Chief Garcia stated that officers were monitoring areas of Fort Worth that had recently seen a surge in catalytic converter thefts. Around midnight, officers noticed a Nissan being driven by Jessie with Cadillac license plates, an irregularity that immediately raised suspicion.
Officers reported that Jessie was committing several traffic violations, including speeding and erratic lane changes, which prompted them to initiate a traffic stop.
When approached by police, Jessie allegedly fled the scene, leading officers on a pursuit through Fort Worth streets. The chase, which unfolded late at night, posed significant risks to other drivers and pedestrians, highlighting the dangers posed by suspects fleeing law enforcement.
High-Speed Pursuit Crosses Into Dallas
The chase continued for several miles, eventually crossing city lines into Dallas. Officers from both Fort Worth and Dallas coordinated efforts to safely apprehend Jessie.
Police reported that the suspect refused to stop despite repeated commands, forcing officers to strategically maneuver in order to bring the vehicle to a safe halt. The high-speed pursuit ended without injury, and Jessie was taken into custody in Dallas, as per the reports.
