Elvis Will Be in Bethel! Relay For Life Volunteers Hard at Work Preparing for This Year’s Event for Bethel/Danbury/Redding/Brookfield
Wait until you see all the amazing activities the American Cancer Society volunteers have planned for the 2016 Bethel/Danbury/Redding/Brookfield Relay For Life event!

To begin, the event will take place all on ONE day only (instead of two days like past years) at 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016, so all you have to remember is 11-11-11! The event location is the Bethel High School track, 300 Whittlesey Dr, Bethel, CT.
So get ready to arrive early and have some fun! And wow, are there ever a lot of surprises planned! Beginning with …
Cancer survivors and caregivers can attend the Survivors’ Luncheon at 12:30p.m. at the Bethel High School, following the Opening Ceremony.
The theme of the luncheon is “Wishing on a Star” and guess who will be there? ELVIS PRESLEY! (well, his impersonator, but a great one). Elvis Remembered shows are performed by David Devonshuk and all services are donated for the entertainment. View website: www.elvisct.com
A great meal is also donated by Olive Garden. Menu is Salad, Breadsticks, Pasta & sauce, Dolcini (dessert), Iced Tea and Coffee by Redding Roasters. Cake & coffee will be served on the track at the Survivor tent following the Survivor lunch festivities.
Lots of fun and prizes galore too! Hum your favorite Elvis tune or sing and dance with Elvis! Don’t miss this great party as Relay For Life celebrates survivors and gives hope to those still battling cancer.

Survivors Lap- To follow after opening Ceremony around 11:15 a.m.
Cancer survivors take the first lap around the track. Cheered on by the other participants and the sound of upbeat music, the Survivors Lap lets all cancer survivors at the event celebrate their victory over cancer. |

Caregivers Lap-To follow the Survivors Lap around 11:20 a.m
During the Caregivers Lap, anyone who ever cared for someone with cancer walks a special lap so they can be honored. Caregivers can walk this lap with the person they helped if they are also present.

Luminaria Ceremony
At the candlelight Luminaria Ceremony we remember loved ones lost to cancer, support people who currently have cancer, and honor people who fought cancer in the past. It’s a powerful part of the event because it provides an opportunity for people to work through grief and find hope. |

Last year’s totals were discussed at the volunteer meeting too, and the top three teams were: Pink Ladies, raising $16,361; Captains Curageous, raising $10,083; and Scooby Strong, raising $9,503, for a 2015 total of $98,274. RFL hopes to surpass that figure this year, with your help.
