Midland, Texas – A man from El Paso is facing federal charges after deputies with the Midland County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) uncovered a large quantity of cocaine during a traffic stop in Midland County. Authorities confirmed the incident took place on August 28 along the 8500 block of Interstate 20.

According to the MCSO Patrol Division, deputies pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation. During the investigation, officers developed probable cause to search the car. The search led to the discovery of approximately five kilograms of cocaine concealed inside the vehicle.
Suspect Identified and Arrested
The driver was identified as Brayan Castillo-Lopez, 31, of El Paso, Texas. He was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Midland County Detention Center. Castillo-Lopez is facing a federal remand charge for possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.
Jail records also confirm he is being held for the U.S. Marshals Service under a detainer from the Western District of Texas as per Your Basin.
