Las Vegas, NV — An e-bike rider was killed Saturday afternoon after running a stop sign and colliding with two vehicles in east Las Vegas, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD). The fatal incident marks the 100th traffic-related death within LVMPD’s jurisdiction for 2025.
Crash Occurs Near Frank Street and East Baltimore
The collision occurred around 4:25 p.m. at the intersection of East Baltimore and Frank streets, near Nellis Boulevard and Sahara Avenue. Officers arrived at the scene following reports of a crash involving an e-bike and a Chevrolet 3500 pickup truck.
According to police and witness accounts, the e-bike rider was traveling north on Frank Street when he failed to stop at a posted stop sign and entered the intersection without yielding.
“The e-bike rider was traveling northbound on Frank Street when he ran a stop sign and entered the intersection, hitting the side of a Chevrolet 3500,” Metro police reported.
Collision with Parked Vehicle Proved Fatal
The force of the impact redirected the rider into a parked vehicle, compounding his injuries. Emergency responders transported the man — described as being in his 40s or 50s — to a nearby hospital. He was later pronounced dead.
Authorities have not released the man’s identity, pending family notification.
LVMPD Reports Milestone Fatality
The man’s death marks a grim milestone: the 100th traffic-related fatality within Las Vegas police jurisdiction so far in 2025. With several months still left in the year, law enforcement officials say the figure reflects a continued need for road safety awareness — especially among non-traditional vehicle operators like cyclists and e-bike riders.
LVMPD has consistently urged all roadway users — including those on bicycles, scooters, and e-bikes — to obey all traffic control devices, including stop signs, which apply equally to motorists and non-motorized travelers.
Investigation Ongoing
As of Sunday, the crash remains under active investigation. Police have not indicated whether speed, impairment, or mechanical failure may have played a role. The drivers of the other two vehicles involved — the Chevrolet pickup and the parked vehicle — were not injured, and no citations have been issued at this time.
Officials are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the LVMPD Traffic Bureau.
