Urgent Care Center Responds to Need for Additional Space
Danbury (PRUnderground) April 15th, 2015
In order to better serve the community, Doctors Express Urgent Care will open its second Danbury urgent care center on the west side of town in May. The first Doctors Express in CT, which opened March 2013, is located at 2 Main Street in Danbury. Soon, residents of Danbury, Ridgefield, New Fairfield, Redding, Brookfield, Brewster, New York and many other towns will have easy access to a state-of-the art, walk-in urgent care center located at 100 Mill Plain Rd, offering a combination of exceptional medical care and impeccable customer service.
There will be a Grand Opening celebration on Thursday April 30 from 5-8PM.
“As Connecticut’s largest locally owned urgent care center group, Doctors Express is independent and not part of a larger health network. We are not primary care but we have a broad referral network and strong relationships with the best primary care physicians, pediatricians and specialists in the area,“ said Tom Kelly, co-owner of Doctors Express Urgent Care. “Our only concern is for our patients. We strive to meet our goal of providing the highest quality, affordable care in under an hour.”

Along with urgent care issues, Doctors Express Danbury also provides physicals and vaccinations for school, sports, immigration, DOT and pre-employment. They also have a very strong Occupational Health program for employers providing care for Workers’ Compensation cases and employee-related testing, such as drug screening, physicals and hearing tests – the most efficient and accessible in the region. The center will create about 20 new jobs in the west side of Danbury.
“Doctors Express has established itself as a reliable go-to facility able to serve the medical needs facing the residents of Danbury and other neighboring communities,” said Danbury Mayor Mark D. Boughton. “We welcome a second Danbury Doctors Express urgent care location and applaud Doctors Express for choosing our city as a foundation to build this growing genre of medical care.”
Kelly said: “The city of Danbury is extremely business friendly. As in the past, the city works to create an environment where businesses can open and flourish,” Our newest center is located in a highly commercial corridor which lacks medical care alternatives. Our goal is to bring the nicest, most modern medical facility to the Mill Plain Rd corridor.”
Doctors Express Urgent Care is also committed to educating the public about current, real-time health issues, reaching out via email blasts and social media like Twitter, Google Plus and Facebook with community health alerts. The center also produces a video series called “The Doctors Express Medical Minute” on their YouTube Channel in which the providers address seasonal and common ailments and preventative tactics people can use to self- manage their health issues between doctor appointments, and in some cases to prevent seeing a doctor.
The group also opened a new facility in West Hartford in June and plans on opening more in CT over the next few years.

Typically, with allergies the symptoms include itchy, watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing and sometimes asthma symptoms can pop up.
Cold symptoms on the other hand may include all of the allergy symptoms listed above but also can include a low grade fever, and the duration of a cold is typically shorter than that of allergies, which can go on for weeks and sometimes months.
You can prevent seasonal allergies from taking over your life. Some of the measures include
• remaining indoors on high pollen count days,
• using your air conditioner when indoors rather than opening doors or windows,
• taking frequent showers when coming in from outdoors,
• and while in the car, using the air conditioner to filter pollen rather than opening windows.
Often times, even when you’ve tried to prevent allergies, medication is required.
Treatment of seasonal allergies is typically over the counter drugs such as Benadryl, Clariton or Allegra. Also a nasal spray called Cromolyn Sodium can be helpful as a prevention tip. One thing many don’t know is that allergy medication should be taken about 2 weeks before allergy season to have enough time to get into your system.
