UPDATED: Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton Recovering After Brain Surgery

Mayor Mark Boughton is out of surgery after the removal of a benign epidermoid cyst located in his brain, a condition he reported to the public on August 7, 2017, and announced he would need surgery.

“Mayor Boughton is out of his surgery and recovering well. His medical team is very pleased with the results of the surgery and are confident in his full recovery. The Mayor would like to extend his thanks for all of the encouragement, prayers, and well wishes that he has received over the last 48 hours,” reads his Facebook page.

The surgery took place today by Dr. Robert Friedlander at at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Yesterday Mayor Boughton said, “We are confident that the removal of the cyst will be a one-time procedure without the need for additional surgery or medical intervention. I expect to be back serving the people of Danbury within a few weeks.”
