Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut Seeks a Guest Curator
@287 Gallery, a project of the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut, recognized in the region as a destination for high quality exhibitions (visit artswesternct.org to see current offerings), is seeking a Guest Curator for 2016. The right individual will start immediately to develop the 2017 exhibition season. The position requires a minimum of two full days weekly. The gallery schedule is Thursday and Friday from 10:00am to 4:00pm, Saturday 11:00 am to 3:00pm. @287 Gallery is located at 287 Main Street, Danbury, CT.
The Guest Curator will be an active member of the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut and will work closely with the Executive Director to oversee the general organization and functioning of the @287 Gallery. This position is ideal for someone looking to connect with the Creative Community on a part-time, volunteer basis and who desires to be an active part of expanding the arts and culture in downtown Danbury as a growing destination.
Qualifications: S/he must –
• Embrace Art enthusiastically and with regard;
• Demonstrate professional manners and appearance;
• Display excellent communication skills;
• Be mature, motivated, responsible, attentive, well organized, and detail oriented.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
• Assisting in the curatorial process;
• Exhibition preparation;
• Mailing invitations;
• Special events planning;
To apply, submit a brief cover letter in the body of an email and an attached resume to lscails@cawct.org with subject line – Guest Coordinator 2016. Only those applicants that meet our requirements will be contacted.
