Traffic Stop Leads to Methamphetamine and Marijuana Arrest
On December 26, deputies conducted a routine traffic stop resulting in the arrest of Nathan Whitfield, 42, of Vinemont. Authorities reported that Whitfield had active warrants at the time of the stop. During the encounter, deputies discovered methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia in his possession.
Whitfield now faces multiple charges, including:
- Trafficking/Possession of Methamphetamine
- Possession of Marijuana

Fentanyl Seizure During I-65 Traffic Stop
The following day, deputies stopped a vehicle on I-65 northbound, leading to the arrest of Albert Dragon, 42, of Falkville. Dragon, who also had active warrants, was found in possession of fentanyl, a highly potent opioid responsible for a growing number of overdoses nationwide.
Dragon was charged with:
- Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl
- Other Related Offenses
Authorities emphasized the serious risks posed by fentanyl trafficking, noting that even small amounts can be deadly if mishandled or distributed illegally.
Trafficking-Level Narcotics Found in Mt. Olive
On December 28, deputies conducted another traffic stop on County Road 222, which resulted in the arrest of Leann Elizabeth Finchum, 32, of Mt. Olive. During the stop, deputies discovered trafficking-level quantities of fentanyl and distribution-level amounts of methamphetamine.
Finchum faces charges including:
- Trafficking in Fentanyl
- Unlawful Distribution of Methamphetamine
