CT State Troopers Make Heroin Arrest Following Route 15 Motor Vehicle Stop, Wilton Police K9 Team Located Drugs

 

On February 6, 2017 at approximately 6:30 p.m. troopers from Troop G – Bridgeport were conducting motor vehicle enforcement on Route 15 northbound when they observed a white Toyota Camry with Massachusetts registration following closely behind other vehicles. Troopers conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 15 northbound near exit 44 in Fairfield. Upon approaching the vehicle troopers observed a used heroin baggy in plain view prompting an investigation.

 

Through the course of the investigation State Troopers and a Wilton Police K9 team located and seized over 80 baggies of heroin, a small amount of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

 


The operator, Anthony J. McLaughlin (dob 04/04/1984), and passenger, Riley R. Cannell (dob 5/7/1994), both of 50 Hobson Avenue, Veazie, Maine were taken into custody and transported to Troop G were there charged with Conspiracy to Commit Possession of Narcotics, Conspiracy to Commit Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Conspiracy to Commit Possession of Narcotics With Intent to Sell, Possession of an Untaxed Drug, and Possession of Less than One Half Ounce of Cannabis. McLaughlin was also charged with Following Too Closely.


Both were held on $15,000.00 Bond and scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on February 7, 2017.
