Connecticut Magistrate and Local Attorney Jennifer Collins Announces Campaign for Judge of Probate for the Northern Fairfield County Probate District
Judicial and Litigation Experience combined with a Passion for Public Service will fuel the campaign to serve the residents of Ridgefield, Newtown, Bethel and Redding.
April 6, 2016 – Ridgefield, CT- Today, Connecticut Magistrate and Local Attorney, Jennifer Collins, announced her campaign for the Judge of Probate for the Northern Fairfield County Probate District to succeed Judge Joseph Egan, who is retiring this fall. Collins is seeking the Republican nomination.
“Now that the Governor has formally announced the vacancy, I am excited and honored to launch my campaign for the Judge of Probate. I believe my extensive judicial and litigation experience coupled with my passion for public service is the right combination to serve the residents of the Northern Fairfield County Probate District. I have ‘Experience That Works’ for the residents of Ridgefield, Newtown, Bethel and Redding. Judge Egan has done a tremendous job and I look forward to continuing in his footsteps,” said Collins.
Collins has 6 years of judicial experience serving as a Magistrate and Commissioner of Small Claims Court having been appointed by the Connecticut Chief Court Administrator in 2010. She also has 18 years of litigation experience in private practice, including making weekly court appearances. She is the founder and Managing Member of Collins & Associates, LLC and has vigorously represented the disabled, the injured, the elderly, children and parents in crisis in Fairfield and Litchfield Counties since 1998.
“As a Magistrate and Small Claims Commissioner, I have earned a reputation for effectively managing large court dockets with respect and compassion. As an attorney, I have earned a strong reputation for advocacy, service and results. The ability to effectively listen to people and really hear what is being said is critical in managing litigants and advocating for their rights and wishes. I intend to utilize my judicial, litigation and people management experience in order to effectively serve the residents of the Northern Fairfield Probate District,” said Collins.
Collins studied at Fairfield University and received a BA in English with a Minor in Art History and Political Science in 1994. She attended the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law in Washington D.C. and earned her JD in 1997. She has interned at the Pentagon and served as a Superior Court Clerk in New Jersey. Collins resides in Ridgefield with her husband, John, and their two children.
