WHAT:
Connecticut Senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy will join members of Connecticut Children’s Injury Prevention Center and Connecticut Department of Transportation to announce the launch of a public awareness campaign around the dangers of kids in hot cars.
 
Last year Connecticut saw one child death and a number of children who had to be rescued by police and/or bystanders.

WHY:   

The statistics are staggering.  The body temperature of a child can increase three to five times faster than an adult.  Heatstroke continues to be the leading cause of non-crash related deaths for children 14 years old and younger. An average of 38 children have died in hot cars each year in the USA since 1998.  Last year a 15-month-old boy in Ridgefield died after having been left in a motor vehicle.

 

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is supporting this public awareness campaign, led by Connecticut Children’s Injury Prevention Center in collaboration with its partners at Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital and Safe Kids Connecticut.  Learn more at wheresbaby.org

As for it not being compatible for some…. I just downloaded real player and it works just fine. The video quality is decent, but I wasn’t expecting picture perfect, high quality details. The audio works well too, and you are able to understand what is being said. Overall I think I got more than what I was expecting, and I”m really happy with the product.

  12. All going swimmingly until the “select network” step. I get a prompt in the HP Setup Assistant box: “Device Not Connected — To configure the network settings of the selected device, please connect it temporarily via USB. The device can be disconnected from? the USB once the network settings are transferred.” Okay, but I am, in fact, connected via USB, so this is stumping me.

  18. Great job, Rob Mac. I know it was supposed to be funny but it’s also a great way to reinforce everything John’s been teaching (in reverse). Great “eye training” for me. It took me a while to find the specific entropy introduced in some of the subtler steps; for example, rounding out the smile curve. But eventually I caught them all.It does need a final “tude” step, though. Ha!

  25. Avoid Renault like the plague. Renault has extremely expensive aftersales and upkeep, Mazda is good but costly to maintain. I’d go for a Toyota. Good choice on the diesel engine, the price of diesel may not be different to petrol now, but they last a lot longer!
