These items were produced by Hillshire Brands, a Texas-based subsidiary of Tyson Foods, headquartered in Arkansas.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the contamination issue was discovered following multiple consumer complaints, including five reports of injuries. Hillshire later confirmed that a limited number of products contained extraneous pieces of wooden stick within the batter, prompting the company to issue a nationwide recall “out of an abundance of caution.”
Production Dates and Facility
The recalled items were produced between March 17 and September 27, and the issue was isolated to one facility in Haltom City, Texas. Consumers, schools, and other institutions across the U.S. may have the recalled products in their refrigerators or freezers.
