‘Bye Bye Birdie’ – ‘Not Liking the Sculpture’ – Letter to the Editor

Fran Pulle’s poetry about the Bethel sculpture exhibits:

BYE  BYE  BIRDIE❗️?

Was biking ? by the library, ?
was not liking the sculpture ??
when I pause and flip the bird ‘the bird’. . .?
“WHOA!  WHERE’S THE VULTURE?!” ?

Where’s ‘THE THING’,  the ‘feathered’ WING,
kid-friendly KILLER BEAK? ???
Where’s the ‘CLAW’ (that ghastly paw)
I saw? (Maybe LAST WEEK?)

Where’s the scrapyard metal  ?⛓⚙️
scarred and weathered snout to tail? ?
Where ARE the signs “NO CLIMBING!”
“WE PROSECUTE/SURVEIL!!” ?‍✈️

Where are the ‘candid’ cameras? ?
 (An outrage simply put) ?
 And all those ‘Kodak moments’
when the FREAKSTER was afoot? ?

Should you pass by the library. . .?
 (Center of village culture)
 Clap and shout “GOOD RIDDANCE,
NEW AGE (caw! caw! caw! caw!) ‘SCULPTURE’!” ? ? ?

Tombstone reads:

“HAPPY (EN)TRAILS”  ❤️  “R I P(IECES)”
circa 2016—April 30, 2019
