Raleigh, NC — After more than 15 years in business, the Brio Italian Grille at Crabtree Valley Mall has quietly closed, marking the end of an era for local diners and mall-goers.
Raleigh Location Shuts Abruptly
The closure was confirmed through the brand’s website and a recorded phone message, according to The News & Observer, when attempts to contact the restaurant directly were made.
“Many customers were surprised by the sudden closure, with one posting on Facebook that their weekend reservation had been unexpectedly canceled,” the report noted.
The Raleigh location, like many other Brio restaurants across the country, was situated in a major shopping mall. Over recent years, the brand has experienced a national shrinkage, closing multiple locations permanently.
Impact on North Carolina
With the closing of the Raleigh Brio, only one location remains in North Carolina, located inside the Harrah’s Casino Resort in Cherokee. Brio first opened in Raleigh in 2009, offering an upscale Italian dining experience similar to chains like Macaroni Grill and Maggiano’s.
- Years in operation: 2009–2025
- Location closed: Crabtree Valley Mall, Raleigh
- Remaining NC location: Harrah’s Casino Resort, Cherokee
The closure reflects a broader trend in the restaurant industry, where mall-based dining chains have been struggling to maintain operations in recent years.
