The Connecticut Republican Party convention was May 9th, and they emerged as a unified party behind Dan Carter for the US Senate.

Breaking: Rep. Dan Carter Wins Republican Nomination for U.S. Senate

The Connecticut Republican Party convention was May 9th, and they emerged as a unified party behind Dan Carter for the U.S. Senate.  Carter defeated August Wolf and Jack Orchulli so there will be no primary.

The Republican state convention began at 5 p.m., May 9, 2016, at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford.

Candidates were nominated by the party in each of the five House districts and also a candidate to challenge U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal.

When the results were in, Dan Carter accepted the nomination, and said, “Today is a good day to be a Republican in Connecticut.  I proudly, humbly accept your nomination to the Republican candidate for the United States Senate.”
