Police: 10 people have been killed in the Munich shooting, including the gunman. The gunman was 18-year-old German of Iranian descent.
Nine people were shot and killed, and a further 21 injured, in an attack at a shopping center in Munich on Friday evening. Sixteen people remain in hospital, police said, three of whom are in “serious” condition.
The gunman shot himself, bringing the death toll to ten Despite early reports of multiple attackers, there was only one gunman, whom police identified as an 18-year-old with dual German and Iranian citizenship.
The gunman’s motive is still “fully unknown,” the chief of Munich police told a press conference in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The White House condemned “in the strongest terms” what it described as an “apparent terrorist attack.”
French president Francois Hollande said early on Saturday, “The shooting in Munich was a “disgusting terrorist attack” according to Reuters. “The terrorist attack that struck Munich killing many people is a disgusting act that aims to foment fear in Germany after other European countries … Germany will resist, it can count on France’s friendship and cooperation,” Hollande said.

It is now reported that 9 people have been killed in the Munich mall shooting and many more injured. A witness said the shooter appeared to target children. A manhunt continues for the shooters. Police are telling everyone to shelter in place. Police: “It looks like a terror attack.”

Witness (a mom) on CNN recording they just aired was just saying her 8-year son saw the gunman loading the weapon in the bathroom when he was in the restroom earlier, then the boy saw the man go out and shoot children (in McDonalds) then go into the mall (to shoot more people?). The Mom said her son said he heard the gunman say “Allah Akbar.”

Six people have now been reported dead. Law enforcement, local and federal, are on the scene. It is not yet known if this is a terrorist Islamic attack or a multiple attack of another sort.

Breaking News: 3 Dead, Shooters Loose in Munich, Germany Shopping Mall
Three people are reported to be dead and others are wounded after gunfire erupted from a gunman, maybe more than one, who shot individuals in McDonald’s restaurant across from the the Olympia shopping mall in Munich, Germany, at around 5:50 p.m. (11:50 a.m. ET), Friday, July 22, 2016, CNN affiliate NTV reports.
Possibly as many as 3 gunman are now loose in 2 different locations of the mall at this moment and police are in the scene.
Police spokeswoman Claudia Küntzel said, “There could be several dead and one or even several shooters are on the loose,” Küntzel said. The shooting at the McDonald’s happened around 5:50 p.m. (11:50 a.m. ET), she said. It’s unclear whether shootings have occurred at other locations, and whether the gunfire has stopped.
Mass transportation has stopped, the city is on lock down. Police are asking people not to take video of the police operation, not to help shooters know their positions, etc.
Witnesses said they saw at least three people with guns, CNN reports, but the shooters’ locations are not yet known.
