Bethel’s Stony Hill Fire & EMS, Hawleyville FD, CT State Police Respond to Accident on I-84, Rescue Entrapped Occupant

At 7:15 a.m. yesterday, September 24, 2020, Stony Hill Fire & EMS were dispatched to Interstate 84 East between Exits 8 & 9 for an MVA.

Upon arrival of Stony Hill A3, a single vehicle was found in the woods with a single occupant heavily entrapped.

Rescue 2, Engine 3, Engine 1, A3, Medic 608, Connecticut State Police Troop A & Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Company #1 Rescue 334 responded.

Members used the HURST Jaws of Life to free the single occupant in approximately 25 minutes. Members had to cut the doors and roof off to access the driver.

Units stood by to assist Modzelewski’s Recovery & Heavy Hauling in removing the vehicle from the woods.

The occupant was transported to Danbury Hospital with serious injuries.
