Bethel’s State Rep. Dan Carter Asks Constituents to be Safe This Holiday Season
HARTFORD – To show support for Connecticut State Police’s Operation S.A.N.T.A., State Representative Dan Carter (R-2) is asking all constituents to make plans this holiday season to avoid drunk driving, distracted driving, and cell phone use. Operation “Stop Another Needless Tragic Accident” (S.A.N.T.A.) was launched last week by State Troopers as an enforcement program to work towards saving lives and preventing injury.
Drunk driving is dangerous and illegal. Please expect an increase in DUI enforcement over the next couple weeks. State Troopers have scheduled DUI sobriety checkpoints and enhanced DUI enforcement operations on roads and highways across Connecticut.
The operation is not, however, limited to Connecticut. Therefore, wherever you find yourself traveling to this holiday season, please rest assured that all State Police Departments across the United States are working in a combined accident reduction effort (C.A.R.E.).
“The holidays are about being with family and celebrating another prosperous year,” said Rep. Carter. “Please keep this mind while organizing transportation plans between festivities. Your decisions could not only impact your holiday, but the holidays of others as well. I ask everyone to be responsible and considerate this holiday season. Respect the speed limit and wear a seat belt”
