Bethel Police Department Identifies Shooting Victim as Retired Bethel Police Officer

Bethel Police responded to a call from the Plumtrees Heights Condominium Complex on Tuesday and just released a statement (below).

Bethel Police Department Identifies Shooting Victim as Retired Bethel Police Officer

Bethel Police responded to a call from the Plumtrees Heights Condominium Complex on Tuesday and just released the following statement:

“It is with profound sadness that the Bethel Police Department announces the sudden and unexpected passing of Lieutenant Kevin Kennedy (Ret.). LT Kennedy retired one year ago after 34 years of service to the Bethel Police Department, The Town of Bethel, and its citizens.

“Last night at approximately 9:00PM, Bethel Police responded to the Plumtrees Heights Condominium Complex after receiving a call from family concerning Kennedy’s welfare. Police responded and located Kennedy on the complex grounds. After a brief dialogue with the responding Bethel Officers, Kennedy shot himself using a personal firearm. Kennedy was transported to Danbury Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

“Our officers and their families are devastated by this loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Kennedy family right now.”
