Bethel Police: December Arrests Include Assault on Wife, Reckless Driving, Property Damage and Violation of a Protective Order

 

*December arrests by Bethel Police Department:

 

Airedin Islami, age 46, white, of 79 Hoyts Hill Road in Bethel, CT was arrested on 12/22/16 at 10:26 p.m. on Oxford Street, Bethel, CT, and charged with Traveling Unreasonably Fast 14-218a, Operating a MA/ Under Suspension 14-215, and Failure to Appear 2nd degree 53a-173.

Bethel Police conducted a traffic stop of a speeding vehicle on Oxford St. A check of the operator’s license showed that his driving privileges were suspended and that he was the subject of an active arrest warrant for failing to appear in court on a previous arrest. He was placed under arrest and transported to police Headquarters where he was routinely processed and held for arraignment in lieu of a total bond of $2,600.  He was to appear in Danbury Superior court at 10:00 am on December 23, 2016.

Rodrigo Pauta, age 36, white, of Grassy Plain St Bethel. CT, was arrested on 12/22/16 at 5:34 a.m. at Grassy Plain St Bethel. CT, and charged with Disorderly Conduct 53 a-182 and Violation of a Protective Order 53a-223.

Bethel Police responded to a residence on Grassy Plain Street after a third party complaint of a man assaulting his wife. An investigation determined that the man, identified as Rodrigo Pauta, had been screaming at and physically restraining the movement of his wife after an argument about money. Pauta was the subject of a court issued protective order which prohibited him from being within 100 yards of his wife. Pauta was placed under arrest and transported to Bethel Police Headquarters where he was routinely processed and held for arraignment in Danbury Superior court at 10:00 am on December 22, 2016.

Kamil Kwiecien, age 19, white, was arrested on 12/22/16 at 1:53 a.m. on Route 58 in Bethel, CT and charged with Operating a M/V Under the Influence I4-227e, Evading Responsibility in a Crash 14-224, and Unsafe Movement 14-424.

Bethel Police conducted a traffic stop after observing two vehicles driving in tandem while swerving and traveling at a speed significantly below the posted speed limit while traveling south on Route 58.  One of the stopped vehicles had extensive damage and through an investigation was detrmined to have been involved in a crash near the intersection of Hoyts Hill Road and Route 58 resulting in property damage.  The operator of that vehicle was identified as Kamil Kwiecien who exhibited signs of intoxication. Kwiecien was given field sobriety tests which he failed.  Kwiecien was placed under arrest and transported to Bethel Police Headquarters where he was routinely processed and released on a $500 bond.  Kwiecien is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior court at 10:00 am on January 5, 2016.

Jeffrey Arlynn, age 41, white, of 176 Laurel Ridge Rd South Salem, NY, was arrested on 12/23/16 at 1:07 a.m. on South Street in Bethel, CT, and charged with Operating a M/V Under the Influence 14-227a, Evading responsibility in a Crash 14-224 and Unsafe Movement 14-424.

Bethel Police received a complaint of a vehicle that crashed on Elizabeth St causing property damage and then fled the scene before parking nearby in Parloa Park.  The complainant also reported that a female passenger of the crash vehicle was screaming to be let out following the crash and that she eventually exited the vehicle and left the scene on foot.  Police located the vehicle and the operator Jeffrey Arlynn who refused to perform sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested on the above charges. Arlynn was transported to Police Headquarters where he was routinely processed and released on $5,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court at 10:00 a.m. on January 5, 2016.
