LEGAL NOTICE OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC INPUT/COMMENT AND PUBLIC HEARING ON 2015 CDBG ANNUAL ACTION PLAN. The City of Danbury, Connecticut announces the availability of its draft 2015 HUD CDBG Annual Action Plan. The City is required to prepare and submit to HUD an Annual Action Plan each year to identify and prioritize its community development needs and resources and provide information on the activities that will be funded by HUD’s annual allocation of CDBG dollars. In accordance with the primary objectives of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1987 (as amended) the City of Danbury, Connecticut is awarded Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds annually from the U.S. Department of Housing and Community Development (HUD). Congress allocates these funds with the condition that recipients give maximum feasible priority to activities that principally benefit persons of low and moderate income, aid in the prevention or elimination of slums and blight or meet urgent needs. An opportunity for public comment is being provided for any comments and/or suggestions pertaining to proposed 2015 Year allocations including the reallocation of prior year funds. Total funds available for 2015 CDBG projects totals $636,061 comprised of $596,398 in the 2015 HUD annual allocation and $39,663 from prior year available funds. Proposed activities for 2015 include the following: 1) ARC Dream Homes – homeless case management/referral – $33,000; 2) CACD – ESC Program – $5,000; 3) Danbury Youth Services – youth mentoring program – $10,000; 4) Dept. of Health and Human Services – shelter operating costs – $5,000; 5) Hispanic Center – bilingual case management – $10,000; 6) Interfaith Aids – nutrition program – $10,000; 7) Literacy Volunteers – literacy program for adults – $10,000; 8) TBICO – security deposits for income eligible households – $5,000; 9) Amos House – renovations and improvements – $29,100; 10) Ability Beyond – housing renovations – $138,500; 11) Danbury Housing Authority – housing rehabilitation for veterans housing – $154,250; 13) Section 108 Foster Street Repayment $100,000; 14) City Homeless Shelter – ADA renovations – $31,000, 15) General Administration – $75,000; Contingency – $20,211. You are invited to attend the second of two public hearings on the 2015 Action Plan process. The second public hearing for 2015 will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall, 155 Deer Hill Ave., Danbury, CT 06810 in Conference Room 3C.
