HARTFORD – State Representative Dan Carter (R-2) will testify tomorrow at two public hearings in Hartford and New Haven on behalf of two bills he proposed and co-sponsored regarding insurance, real estate and housing policies.
Bill number SB-21 will be discussed at the Insurance and Real Estate hearing. It seeks to require health insurance policies to provide coverage for prescription drugs and abuse-deterrent opioid analgesics on a basis no less favorable than for covered nonabuse-deterrent opioid analgesics.
Bill number HB 5803 will be discussed at the Housing public hearing. If voted into law, it will allow municipalities to receive credit for existing affordable housing stock.
“These bills are intended to give the power of choice back to local people and authorities in determining their own health care benefits and plans for development. If you have a strong opinion on these issues, I encourage you to submit written testimony or testify in person at the public hearing,” said Rep. Carter.

Sign-up for the hearing will begin 5pm in the Aldermanic Chamber. Please submit 35 copies of written testimony to Committee staff by 6pm.
If you plan to testify please make sure that your remarks are clear and concise. Many committees limit testimony to three minutes to accommodate everyone that wishes to speak. Written testimony, which will become part of the permanent legislative record, should be turned in before the hearing begins. This process is provided in the public hearing announcement.
If you can’t make a hearing, please email your written testimony in Word or PDF format to HSGtestimony@cga.ct.gov, and copy Rep. Carter: Dan.Carter@cga.ct.gov.
