Bethel Community Emergency Response Team Celebrates the Holidays
The Bethel Community Emergency Response Team recently enjoyed a holiday party held at the Stony Hill Fire Department on December 7, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. Volunteers brought homemade appetizer dishes and sweet treats that were a delight for the palate, and the dinner was catered locally, sponsored by CERT. Vintage holiday movies were viewed and holiday games added to the festivities. Thanks to CERT members Teresa Fogel (Bethel CERT Coordinator) and Ken Weith (Bethel Office of Emergency Management, Radio Officer) for organizing the party, and all the volunteers who helped make it a great evening. ABOUT CERT
CERT educates individuals about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT volunteers can assist others in their community following a disaster when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT volunteers are also encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking an active role in emergency preparedness projects.
