Bethel Board of Education Chairman Lawrence Craybas Hospitalized
A Bethel resident for 39 years, and owner of the Gift Cottage on Greenwood Avenue, Bethel Public Schools Board of Education Chairman Lawrence Craybas was brought to the hospital on August 17th for emergency surgery after complications from knee surgery.
“Thank you everyone for constantly reaching out, for your thoughts and prayers for Dad…this unfortunately will not be a quick fix. He will need 2-3 weeks IV antibiotics and several weeks/months of oral antibiotics. He was transferred to rehab facility today and praying that all goes as hoped for and he can begin to recuperate. Thank you again…means so much,” said his daughter Terri Craybas, in an August 22nd Facebook post on the Gift Cottage page.
In the past week, “The Gift Cottage has had to close the store almost every day for 1/2 a day,” Terri Craybas said, “I apologize if you came to the store and we were closed and thank you all for your concern and understanding. I’ll try to update daily. Thank you again. We have the best customers ever.”
Melanie O’Brien, the Vice Chair of the Bethel Board of Education, will cover for Mr. Craybas in his absence, said Dr. Christine Carver, Bethel Public Schools Superintendent.
We will update this story as more information is received.
