Ballot-Order Lottery to Be Conducted by Registrars of Voters for the Municipal Election to Be Held Nov. 2, 2021

This Lottery is open to the public.
For multiple-opening offices, (i.e. where each elector may vote for two or more candidates for the same office and term) each major and minor party’s candidates, and also nominating-petition candidates, are to be listed on the appropriate horizontal row of the Nov. 2nd election ballot in the order determined by the Registrars of Voters by lot in a public ceremony pursuant to Connecticut General Statutes (CGS) §§ 9-253 and 9-453r.
Under these statutes, after the nomination of candidates for multiple-opening office by a major or minor party or nominating party is finalized, both registrars together must hold a public lottery to determine the horizontal order of names within the appropriate row on the election ballot, and must provide at least five (5) days’ public notice for the ceremony.
The name of a candidate for multiple-opening office who has been endorsed by more than one party (cross-endorsed) must appear in the same vertical column on the ballot for that office.
