Authorities say that on or around September 1, Leica Lopez Martinez initially approached the victim in a parking lot on W. Vernor, claiming car trouble and requesting a ride. Instead of help, the victim was taken to Detroit’s east side, where multiple suspects brandishing firearms tied him up, covered his head, robbed him, and threatened harm to his wife.
The crime escalated when two armed assailants later invaded the couple’s home, restraining the victim’s wife and stealing a safe. The victim’s SUV was later found burned, with the man himself left bound and injured nearby.

The ATF’s thorough month-long investigation drew from GPS location data, surveillance videos, ATM footage, and phone records. Key findings included:
- Leica Lopez Martinez was seen driving the victim’s SUV and withdrawing money from his bank account.
- Ieasha Ann Stroman was captured using the victim’s cards at various ATMs.
- Phone conversations between Roland Terrel Chatmon and family members, including an incarcerated brother, referenced the large sum of money.
