Fond du Lac, Wisc. – An early-morning pursuit in Fond du Lac County ended with the arrest of a 17-year-old boy who was allegedly speeding, evading police, and driving with multiple juvenile passengers, authorities said. The chase occurred just after midnight Friday, when a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office deputy spotted a vehicle driving recklessly on Spirit Drive near the industrial park.
The deputy later observed the same vehicle heading northbound on Highway 175, where it was clocked at 82 mph in a 35 mph zone. A traffic stop was attempted, but the suspect refused to pull over, triggering a pursuit through the city.
Chase Intensifies as Teen Turns Off Vehicle Lights
According to officials, the suspect vehicle escalated the situation by turning off its headlights while continuing to accelerate northbound on Main Street. Despite the darkness and hazardous conditions, the driver sped through a red light at Pioneer Road, continuing the dangerous attempt to evade law enforcement.
Authorities say the vehicle then swerved into the Elms Mobile Homes trailer park, where it left the roadway, drove off a concrete parking pad, and finally came to a stop in a grassy area.
Suspect Arrested; Charges Recommended
Deputies arrested the 17-year-old Fond du Lac male without further incident. He was transported to the Fond du Lac County Jail, where recommended charges include:
- Felony fleeing/eluding
- Operating with a restricted controlled substance
Officials have not yet released the teen’s name due to his age.
Four Juvenile Passengers Released to Parents
The vehicle contained four other juvenile passengers, all from Fond du Lac. Thankfully, authorities confirmed that all four were uninjured and were released safely to their parents or guardians soon after the incident.
Investigators noted that despite the high speeds and evasive driving, no injuries or property damage occurred — a fortunate outcome given the risk involved.
Short but Dangerous Pursuit
In total, the high-speed chase covered approximately half a mile, though deputies emphasize how rapidly the situation escalated and how dangerously the suspect drove within that short distance.
