Simi Valley, California — A tragic incident unfolded early Thursday morning when a 61-year-old man from Los Angeles County was discovered dead after a motorcycle crash along Los Angeles Avenue in Simi Valley.
Authorities report that the rider apparently lost control of his motorcycle before veering off the roadway and down an embankment.
Discovery Near Railroad Crossing
According to the Simi Valley Police Department, the collision was reported at approximately 2:10 a.m. near the intersection of Los Angeles Avenue and Angus Avenue, just east of Runway Street. Responding officers, alongside Ventura County Fire personnel, located the severely damaged motorcycle off the roadway and the rider down an embankment near the railroad crossing on the south side of the avenue.
Emergency crews attempted to assist, but fire personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene. Officials said his identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, as per KTLA.
Alcohol and Speed Believed to Be Factors
Preliminary findings suggest the rider had been traveling eastbound on Los Angeles Avenue when he lost control.
