Hamden Police Seize Stolen Gun and Large Drug Cache from Clothing Store in Multi-Agency Raid

Hamden, CT – Hamden police officers executed a search warrant at The District, a clothing and accessories retailer located on the 200 block of Treadwell Street, on Tuesday, recovering a substantial cache of illegal drugs and firearms.

The operation involved close collaboration with multiple state and federal agencies, underscoring the city’s commitment to combating crime and protecting public safety.

According to Police Lt. Robert Manfield, the raid was the result of an ongoing investigation into illegal drug distribution and unlawful firearm possession connected to the store. Officers recovered large quantities of cannabis and THC products, including edibles, concentrates, and hashish, as well as psilocybin mushrooms.

In addition, controlled substances Xanax and Vyvanse were also seized, highlighting the range of illegal activity taking place at the establishment, as per the reports.

Firearms Confiscated During Raid

The operation also led to the recovery of two firearms, including a stolen Glock with an obliterated serial number, making it extremely difficult to trace, and another weapon that was illegally possessed. The discovery of firearms alongside drugs raises concerns about the potential for violence and public safety risks in the area.

Lt. Manfield emphasized the seriousness of the operation, saying that “the seizure of these weapons and controlled substances prevents potentially dangerous materials from reaching the public and underscores the need for ongoing vigilance.

Arrest and Legal Proceedings

During the raid, Ramy Dasan was arrested on two outstanding warrants for probation violations originating from Orange. He is being held on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Derby on December 9. Hamden police have indicated that further arrests are expected as the investigation continues, suggesting that additional individuals connected to the illegal activity may face charges.

Multi-Agency Operation

The raid at The District was a coordinated effort involving the Hamden Fire Marshal’s Office, the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services, the Department of Consumer Protection, and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s New Haven Field Office. Such multi-agency collaboration allowed for a thorough investigation, ensuring that all aspects of potential criminal activity — from narcotics to unlawful business practices — were addressed.

Hamden Police Chief E.P. Reynolds praised the operation, stating it “reflects the strength of our partnership with the Hamden community and the dedication of our officers and investigative teams. We commend the professionalism and hard work of everyone involved in this ongoing investigation.

Community Safety and Concerns

Local residents have long expressed concerns about illegal activity in retail and commercial areas, and this operation highlights the ongoing challenge of maintaining safe neighborhoods. The presence of controlled substances and stolen firearms in a business frequented by the public underscores the importance of vigilance and strong law enforcement oversight.

Officials stress that ongoing investigations will aim to prevent the store from serving as a hub for criminal activity. Multi-agency cooperation also allows authorities to address regulatory violations and potential revenue-related offenses, in addition to the criminal aspects of the case.

Community Discussion

This raid raises significant questions about public safety, retail oversight, and drug trafficking prevention in Hamden.
