Hermosa Beach, CA – A shocking incident in Hermosa Beach has drawn widespread concern after a group of teen e-bike riders allegedly attacked a man in his 60s while he was walking home. Surveillance footage shows the victims being surrounded, beaten, and stomped in what authorities are calling a brutal assault.
The attack occurred late Friday in an affluent area of the city, where a group of approximately six teenagers on electric bikes confronted the man. One of the teens reportedly demanded the pizza he was carrying before the group launched a violent attack.
Surveillance Footage Shows Violent Assault
Video evidence captures the teens punching, kicking, and stomping the victim, with one assailant striking him over the head using the pizza box he carried. After the assault, the attackers fled the scene on their e-bikes, with one even taking a photo of the injured man, believing him to be dead.
Teens Allegedly Planned Attack Ahead of Time
A witness, Matt Terrill, told Fox 11 that the group had been overheard discussing plans to attack a random stranger just minutes before the assault.
“They met up here five minutes before and were talking about doing something. They wanted to ‘get someone,’” Terrill said.
Victim Hospitalized and Released

The victim, who has not been publicly identified, was immediately taken to a local hospital for treatment. According to the Hermosa Beach Police Department, he has since been discharged and is recovering.
E-Bike Gangs Causing Ongoing Trouble
The growing problem of e-bike gangs in the city has raised alarms among locals. Geoff Van Sickle, owner of Strand Electric Bike Company, described the riders as a known source of disruption.
“These kids are noted for constant trouble. They run in packs of five to six bikes at a time,” Van Sickle told KTLA, adding that the electric dirt bikes the teens use are not street-legal.
Police Investigating, No Arrests Yet
The Hermosa Beach Police Department confirmed they are investigating the incident. So far, no arrests have been made, and police have not released a motive for the attack. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to help identify the suspects.
