North Platte, NB — A quiet Friday morning in Big Springs took a sharp turn when law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at a residence on 604 Chestnut St. just after 9 a.m.
According to the Deuel County Sheriff’s Office, the operation was carried out with the assistance of the Nebraska State Patrol SWAT Team, resulting in the arrest of two suspects.
Two Suspects Taken Into Custody
Authorities confirmed that Darrell Hyberg III, 26, and Taylor Grafford, 38, were detained without incident during the search.
Both individuals now face several felony and misdemeanor charges, including:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine)
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Obstructing Law Enforcement

During the execution of the search warrant, South Platte School was notified as a precautionary measure and placed under lockdown. No students or staff were ever believed to be in danger.
