San Antonio, Texas – A suspected vehicle burglary on the Southwest Side of San Antonio escalated into a high-speed chase, gunfire, and multiple crashes Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Burglary Sparks Chaos

The incident occurred just after 6 a.m. near New Laredo Highway and West Southcross Boulevard. Police reported that a man was caught attempting to burglarize a vehicle at a nearby work site. In response, the vehicle owner enlisted a friend, who was armed with a shotgun, to intervene.

The friend pursued the suspect in a pickup truck, during which shots were fired. The suspect reportedly collided with the pickup and potentially other vehicles before fleeing the scene.

The chase ended when the suspect crashed into a fence at a nearby business and then fled on foot. Paramedics checked on a female driver involved in the incident; she was later transported to a hospital by a family member as a precaution. No additional injuries have been confirmed at this time.
