Fort Wayne, IN – A routine traffic stop in Fort Wayne turned into a major narcotics bust last week when police discovered more than 65 pounds of cocaine hidden under a dog cage in the bed of a pickup truck.

The Fort Wayne Police Department reported that uniformed narcotics detectives pulled over a Chevy Silverado with Florida license plates on Thursday, November 6, for speeding. Officers called in a K-9 team, which alerted to the potential presence of illegal drugs, prompting a more thorough search of the vehicle.
Discovery of Drugs and Firearm
When the driver exited the pickup, detectives noticed a handgun in plain view, raising immediate safety concerns. The bed of the truck contained a large dog housed in a cage. Upon further inspection, officers discovered a hidden compartment beneath the cage, revealing approximately 30 individually wrapped kilos of cocaine—totaling over 65 pounds, as per Fox59.
