Jonesboro, AR – Authorities in Craighead County arrested two men following a felony warrant search that led investigators to uncover more than a pound of illegal drugs, multiple firearms, and cash inside a Jonesboro home.
Investigation Leads to Arrest
According to court documents, the arrests occurred on November 5, 2025, when members of the Street Crimes Unit and the East Arkansas Fugitive Task Force arrived at a residence in the 300 block of Drake Street to locate Kiree Carter, who was wanted on a felony warrant.
When officers knocked on the door, they saw someone peering through the blinds. Moments later, investigators spotted Demariun Wells attempting to flee out a back window with a backpack in hand, the affidavit stated.
Police said Wells tossed the backpack over a privacy fence before being quickly apprehended with the assistance of K9 Tiger.
Drugs and Firearms Recovered
Upon securing the scene, officers searched the backpack and discovered 589 grams (1.3 pounds) of suspected marijuana, which had been packaged into two clear bags.
After obtaining a search warrant, police combed through the residence and recovered additional items, including:
- 26.8 grams of moon rocks
- 4.67 grams of marijuana
- A loaded Glock 17 9mm pistol with one round in the chamber and 21 more in the magazine
- Another loaded Glock 17 magazine with 17 rounds
- A box of ammunition containing 29 rounds
- Digital scale and clear plastic baggies
- Cup of marijuana residue and two rolling trays
- 1.35 grams of marijuana blunts
- $2,624 in U.S. currency
Charges and Court Proceedings
Craighead County District Court Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause to charge both suspects, as per the reports.
Kiree Carter faces:
- Simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms (Class Y felony)
- Offenses relating to records, maintaining premises, etc. (Class B felony)
- Possession of firearms by certain persons/prior felony (Class D felony)
- Possession of drug paraphernalia (Class D felony)
Demariun Wells faces:
- Simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms (Class Y felony)
- Tampering with physical evidence (Class D felony)
- Offenses relating to records, maintaining premises, etc. (Class B felony)
- Possession of drug paraphernalia (Class D felony)
- Fleeing (Class A misdemeanor)
Judge Fowler set Carter’s bond at $350,000 cash surety, while Wells’ bond was set at $175,000 cash surety. If released, Wells will be required to wear a GPS ankle monitor.
Both men are scheduled to appear in court on December 16, 2025.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities said the Street Crimes Unit continues to investigate the case to determine whether additional suspects were involved in the distribution and trafficking operation.
