Hialeah, FL — A 36-year-old Hialeah man was arrested following a months-long undercover drug trafficking investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). Officials say the suspect was involved in distributing fentanyl-laced methamphetamine and other narcotics across Hialeah and Miami Springs.
Undercover FDLE Operation Leads to Arrest
According to the FDLE, the arrest of Eddie Junior Calle, 36, is the result of an investigation conducted by the agency’s State Assistance for Fentanyl Eradication Task Force, which began in August.
Investigators said they received intelligence suggesting that fentanyl-laced methamphetamine was being distributed in the Hialeah area. As undercover operations progressed, agents reportedly discovered that Calle was buying and selling multiple types of drugs, including methamphetamine and oxycodone, in both Hialeah and Miami Springs.
Drugs Seized During Home Search
On October 28, FDLE agents took Calle into custody and executed a search warrant at his residence. During the search, they discovered 116.5 grams of various narcotics, including:
- Methamphetamine and crystal methamphetamine
- Oxycodone
- Ketamine
- Alprazolam (Xanax)
- Marijuana
Officials said to NBC Miami that all the drugs were seized as evidence and have been sent for further laboratory testing.
Multiple Drug Trafficking Charges Filed
Following his arrest, Eddie Junior Calle was charged with:
- Trafficking in oxycodone
- Trafficking in methamphetamine
- Possession of crystal methamphetamine
- Possession of ketamine
- Possession of alprazolam
- Possession of marijuana
Calle was booked into the Miami-Dade County Jail, according to FDLE. Attorney information for him was not immediately available.
FDLE Task Force Targeting Fentanyl Distribution
Officials noted that Calle’s arrest is part of a broader effort by FDLE’s State Assistance for Fentanyl Eradication Task Force, which focuses on dismantling networks responsible for distributing fentanyl-laced narcotics across Florida.
The FDLE has been working closely with local and federal law enforcement agencies to identify traffickers and intercept shipments of synthetic opioids that have been fueling overdoses across the state.
“These dangerous drugs, especially fentanyl-laced methamphetamine, continue to destroy lives in our communities,” FDLE officials said in a statement. “Our agents remain committed to identifying and removing major distributors from Florida’s streets.”
Investigation Remains Active
Authorities confirmed that the case is still active and ongoing. More arrests and charges may follow as investigators continue to track supply chains and distribution networks tied to Calle’s alleged trafficking operation.
The FDLE is urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity involving narcotics trafficking through Crime Stoppers or local law enforcement offices.
