Baltimore, MD – Baltimore police arrested 20-year-old Jayden Morrison after a road rage incident escalated into a car crash and gunfire in the Washington Hill neighborhood late on October 29. Authorities say Morrison was armed with a stolen Glock 19 9-millimeter handgun and fired shots during the altercation.
Officials reported that a 911 call came in just before midnight, describing gunfire after a collision near the intersection of North Caroline Street and East Pratt Street. Responding officers immediately began searching for a suspect fitting the description provided: a male with a beard wearing a black jacket.
Crash Details and Road Rage Escalation
Investigators revealed that the incident began when Morrison’s 2011 Infiniti collided with a 2013 Nissan Altima while attempting a turn on Lombard Street, striking the driver’s side and then hitting a utility pole.
The Nissan driver told police that Morrison had threatened to kill him, prompting the driver to leave the scene temporarily before returning to record Morrison’s license plate number. Court documents state that Morrison confronted the driver, saying “Yo[u] already know, bro”, and fired shots in his direction while moving toward his vehicle.
Investigators recovered five 9-millimeter cartridge casings on the sidewalk near City Springs Elementary/Middle School, close to where Morrison’s Infiniti had been located.
Suspect Apprehended and Weapon Recovered
Officers located Morrison behind City Springs Elementary/Middle School. During the arrest, Morrison attempted to walk away, but officers secured him after drawing a service weapon and issuing verbal commands. Morrison later admitted, “Hit my car, bro, I only shot in the air.”
A search revealed a Glock 19 9-millimeter handgun in Morrison’s jacket pocket. The weapon contained one live round in the chamber and an 11-round magazine, though it was reported stolen from Decatur, Georgia. Morrison was also prohibited from possessing a firearm due to his age.
Additional Evidence and Charges
Morrison consented to speak with detectives at the Baltimore Police Department Central District substation, where authorities found a clear plastic bag containing a green plant substance. Officers also confiscated a Sony camera from his vehicle as evidence.
Morrison is facing multiple charges, including:
- First-degree assault
- Second-degree assault
- Malicious destruction of property over $1,000
- Several handgun violations
Authorities continue to investigate the incident and review evidence related to both the road rage crash and shooting.
Conclusion
This incident underscores the dangers of road rage escalating into violence. Officials remind drivers to stay calm, avoid confrontations, and immediately report any threats to law enforcement.
