Crockett, TX — A 37-year-old man from Crockett is now in custody after authorities say he led police on a dangerous chase while allegedly holding a passenger captive inside his vehicle.
Incident Begins in Latexo
According to the Crockett Police Department, the situation unfolded shortly after midnight on Tuesday when the Houston County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance near State Highway 7 East, just outside the city limits.
Deputies had been investigating Jeremy Alexander Brent, 37, after receiving a report that he was trespassing at a home in Latexo. During the incident, Brent allegedly fled the scene with a passenger who officers believed may have been restrained and unable to leave the vehicle.
High-Speed Pursuit Through Crockett
Police located Brent’s vehicle near the 3000 block of SH 7 East and attempted a traffic stop. However, Brent refused to pull over, igniting a high-speed chase that reached over 100 mph as he headed back toward Crockett.
As the pursuit entered the city, an officer successfully deployed spike strips, deflating the tires of Brent’s vehicle. Despite the damage, Brent continued driving for a short distance before finally stopping near the intersection of SL 304 and SH 7 East.
Passenger Found Safe
When officers approached the vehicle, they discovered the passenger unharmed but confirmed that they may have been held against their will, according to the report, as per KTRE.

Brent was taken into custody and transported to the Houston County Jail. He is now facing multiple charges, including:
- Evading Arrest
- Criminal Trespass
- Unlawful Restraint
- Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle
Authorities have not released the identity of the passenger as the investigation continues.
