Holly Springs, NC – A 34-year-old Wake County mother is facing multiple charges after allegedly driving while drunk and crashing into a gate with her 9-year-old son inside the vehicle, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Crash Report: Impaired Driving Allegations
Authorities say Brittany Gregory Hines, age 34, was driving along Bartley Holleman Road in Holly Springs on Sunday when she reportedly veered off the roadway and slammed into a gate near the intersection of Bartley and New Hill Holleman Roads.
Court documents state that Hines’ blood alcohol content (BAC) tested at 0.19, which is more than twice the legal limit of 0.08 in North Carolina. The exact time of the crash has not been released.
Child in Vehicle During Crash
Troopers confirmed that Hines’ 9-year-old son was inside the vehicle when the crash occurred. Fortunately, no serious injuries have been reported at this time, but officials say the incident posed a significant risk to the child’s safety.
Multiple Charges Filed
Hines is now facing the following charges:
- Two misdemeanor counts of child abuse
- One misdemeanor DWI (Driving While Impaired)
- Failure to maintain lane control
Court records show she was not issued a bond, instead signing a written agreement to appear in court.
Her first court appearance is scheduled for November 21, as reported by WRAL.
Ongoing Investigation
The State Highway Patrol has not yet released additional details, including whether speed or other factors contributed to the crash. More updates may come as the investigation continues.
