Medellín, Colombia — Popular Colombian content creator Estefanía Restrepo Valencia, known online as “La Traviesa”, has died at age 26 after suffering multiple stab wounds in what authorities believe was a violent highway robbery attempt.
The influencer was taken to the Las Vegas Hospital emergency room in Medellín on October 17, where she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.
Details of the Fatal Incident
According to reports from local outlets El Espectador, El Tiempo, and El Colombiano, Valencia was brought to the hospital late Friday evening by her boyfriend, who told authorities that two men had attempted to rob them while they were driving along a highway in Caldas, a municipality outside Medellín.
“She was stabbed several times during a struggle with the attackers,” her partner allegedly told investigators.
Valencia’s wounds were concentrated on her arm and neck, and despite emergency efforts, she was pronounced dead soon after being admitted.
The Metropolitan Police of the Aburrá Valley have opened a full investigation into the case, interviewing her partner and reviewing surveillance footage from the area.
As reported by PEOPLE, investigators are also examining the timeline of events and cross-referencing the man’s account with Valencia’s injuries and phone data.
Investigation Underway
Police are working to corroborate the version of events provided by Valencia’s partner, who claimed the attackers were unknown individuals attempting a car robbery. Authorities have not ruled out other possibilities as forensic examinations continue.
“The investigation is ongoing,” officials from the Aburrá Valley police said in a preliminary statement. “We are reviewing security camera footage and mobile communications to clarify the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death.”
Following the incident, local residents in Caldas and Medellín have expressed concern over the rise in violent robberies targeting motorists, urging police to increase surveillance on highways.
