West Allis, WI – Milwaukee County prosecutors have charged two individuals following a high-speed police chase in West Allis on October 13, during which shots were fired at officers. The pursuit ended without injuries, but authorities say the incident involved dangerous criminal activity and drug possession.
Suspects and Charges
The suspects, identified as 26-year-old Jianna Hughley of West Allis and 20-year-old Preetkamal Singh of Oak Creek, face multiple felony charges. Court records show that both are charged with two counts each of attempted first-degree intentional homicide, along with other related offenses.
During interviews, Singh admitted to driving the vehicle and stated it belonged to Hughley. He reportedly fled police because he was aware of an outstanding warrant and said he could not recall firing a gun due to being under the influence of drugs.
Details of the Chase
The chase began shortly after 1 a.m. when officers were called to the area near 70th and Madison regarding suspicious activity. A caller reported a white SUV with no lights blocking their vehicle. Officers located the SUV near 70th and Greenfield and attempted to make a traffic stop, but the driver sped away.
The pursuit lasted approximately three-and-a-half minutes and covered more than three miles. The SUV ran multiple red lights and reached speeds up to 100 mph. At one point, shots were fired from inside the SUV at officers, who returned fire, as reported.
Police deployed stop sticks near 84th and Greenfield, which the SUV hit but continued to flee. The chase ended near Glenview and Wisconsin, where Singh and Hughley were taken into custody.
Evidence Recovered
Authorities found several items inside the SUV, including:
- A firearm used during the pursuit (no spent casings inside the vehicle)
- Methamphetamine in a “gooey substance” form, which field-tested positive
- A digital scale, indicating potential street-level drug distribution
Along the pursuit route, officers discovered 22 spent bullet casings consistent with the gun found in the SUV. No injuries were reported during the incident.
Public Safety and Legal Proceedings
Officials have emphasized the dangerous nature of the chase and the potential risk to officers and the public. The suspects are being held pending court proceedings, with further hearings scheduled as prosecutors move forward with charges.
