Four Arrested in Springfield Drug Operation Targeting South End Neighborhood

Springfield, Massachusetts – Springfield Police have arrested four suspects in connection with drug distribution in the South End neighborhood, seizing a significant quantity of illegal substances.

Details of the Arrest

The bust took place on Thursday around 6 p.m., when officers observed an alleged drug deal on Locust Street, as per WWLP.

According to the Springfield Police Department, one of the suspects then entered a restaurant on Main Street, where officers allege another drug transaction occurred.

During the operation, police recovered:

  • 44 bags of heroin
  • Over 2.5 grams of crack-cocaine
  • 47 snap caps of crack-cocaine
  • Four oxycodone pills
  • $235 in cash

Suspects and Charges

Authorities have charged the following individuals:

  • Dequan Wood, 21, of Springfield – Possession with the intent to distribute a Class A drug, possession with the intent to distribute a Class B drug (two counts), conspiracy to violate drug laws, and a probation violation warrant.
  • Jayvon Gladden, 19, of Springfield – Possession with the intent to distribute a Class B drug.
  • John Galarza, 33, of Springfield – Possession of a Class A drug.
  • A juvenile suspect – Charged, but authorities are withholding their name, mugshot, and specific charges due to their age.
