Houlihan’s in Hershey to Close After 20 Years, Reopen as Hershey Social Restaurant + Bar

Hershey, PA — After two decades of serving locals and visitors, Houlihan’s in downtown Hershey will close its doors at the end of this year. The restaurant, located at 27 W. Chocolate Ave. inside the Hershey Press Building, is set to undergo a transformation before reopening in spring 2026 as Hershey Social Restaurant + Bar.

According to Hershey Entertainment & Resorts, which owns and operates the property, Houlihan’s will remain open until December 31, giving guests a few more months to enjoy their favorite dishes before the space is reimagined.

“Hershey Social will bring bold flavors, signature cocktails and over-the-top desserts inspired by Hershey’s chocolate roots to the vibrant downtown area,” the company said in a press release.

A Fresh Dining Concept Coming in 2026

The upcoming Hershey Social Restaurant + Bar is designed to reflect the community’s energy and culinary creativity. The company said the new concept will feature a relaxed, casual dining atmosphere with an expanded bar, ideal for both locals and visitors exploring downtown Hershey.

The restaurant will also highlight desserts and drinks that celebrate Hershey’s iconic chocolate legacy.

As reported by PennLive, gift cards for Houlihan’s will be honored through the end of the year, and Hershey Entertainment & Resorts gift cards will remain valid across all its properties — including Hershey Social when it opens next spring.

Part of a Larger Shift in Hershey’s Dining Scene

Houlihan’s opened in 2006, becoming a long-time favorite among Hershey’s restaurant options. Its closure comes amid a wave of changes in the area’s dining landscape.

Just weeks ago, Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant in Derry Township closed as part of a corporate bankruptcy, while Smoked Bar & Grill announced it will close in November and later reopen under a new concept.

Meanwhile, Hershey Entertainment & Resorts continues to expand its hospitality offerings, recently unveiling the 1933 Restaurant & Tavern, which opened earlier this year in the former Harvest location. The company now operates 14 restaurants across the Hershey destination.

What to Expect at Hershey Social

While full details of the new menu and design have not yet been released, early descriptions suggest Hershey Social will combine modern American cuisine with creative presentation.

The name itself reflects the restaurant’s vision — a place where friends, families, and visitors can “gather, connect, and share good food.”

The transformation represents Hershey Entertainment’s continued investment in downtown revitalization and its effort to maintain the area as a premier culinary and entertainment hub.

Continuing the Chocolate Legacy

With its new concept, Hershey Social aims to embrace what makes the town unique: community, hospitality, and a touch of sweetness. Visitors can expect signature desserts and cocktails influenced by Hershey’s chocolate heritage, all served in a refreshed, social-friendly atmosphere.

“Hershey Social will bring together everything people love about Hershey — good food, good drinks, and good company,” the company added.
