Baytown, Texas – A deadly head-on collision in Baytown claimed the life of a BMW driver after he allegedly fled from police while being pulled over for reckless driving, authorities said.

Pursuit Details

The incident occurred on the 6500 block of Highway 146. Baytown Police Department (BPD) reported that officers observed a BMW driving recklessly at high speeds near Alexander Drive around 8 p.m. The driver failed to stop when officers attempted a traffic stop and headed north, prompting a brief pursuit.

The BMW was lost from view several times before entering Chambers County, where the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office took over the pursuit.

Collision and Victims

Shortly afterward, the BMW was involved in a head-on collision near Crystal Blvd. The driver of the BMW was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The other vehicle involved carried a man and a woman, both of whom sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Road Closures and Traffic Alerts

Authorities reported that Highway 146 is closed between Kilgore Parkway and Devinwood Drive and is expected to remain closed for several hours. Drivers in the area are urged to seek alternate routes while emergency crews and investigators work at the scene.
