Machete Attacker with 45 Prior Arrests Charged in Fatal Queens Hit-and-Run

New York City, NY – A career criminal already in custody for a brutal machete attack in the Bronx has been charged in a fatal hit-and-run that killed a 52-year-old cancer survivor last year, authorities said.

Details of the Hit-and-Run

Timothy Bohler, 31, allegedly struck Lelawattie Narine with his motorcycle on March 22, 2024, at the intersection of 114th Street and Liberty Avenue in Queens, police reported. Narine, who had recently completed chemotherapy for breast cancer, succumbed to her injuries less than three weeks later at Jamaica Hospital.

Her son, Darshan Narine, expressed frustration:

“He just left my mom. It wasn’t right. He could’ve just called 911. He could have tried to help her … He just ran.”

Machete Attack in the Bronx

Bohler was already behind bars at Rikers Island for a January 24 machete attack in a Bronx bodega. The victim, Tayquon Young, 34, had four fingers severed in the attack and was threatened with further harm, including to his dog.

Authorities noted Bohler’s history includes 45 prior arrests, including:

  • Alleged 2016 assault on deli workers over a six-pack of beer
  • October 2024 arrest on rape, weapons possession, assault, and unlawful surveillance charges in the Bronx
  • February 10, 2025, incident where he allegedly robbed a female corrections officer of pepper spray while in custody

Arrest and Charges

As per The Post, Bohler now faces multiple new charges, including:

  • Leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death
  • Operating a vehicle without a license
  • Other traffic and criminal violations

He remains in custody on assault and menacing charges from the machete attack on Young.

Impact on Victims and Families

Young’s mother, Kimtreese Young, expressed relief at the new charges:

“Oh, thank God, they got him. I just hope they keep him this time… Someone died. Maybe this gives my son strength to go get some help.”

Darshan Narine shared the challenges of identifying his mother in the hospital:

“She didn’t carry a wallet or purse, so they had her as a Jane Doe. But when I saw her wig in the bag of her belongings, I knew it was her.”
