Yuba County, CA – A 72-year-old man from Plumas Lake lost his life Friday evening after his vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with another car near Highway 70, authorities said.
Crash Details
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the crash occurred around 7:24 p.m. near Feather River Boulevard, south of Myrna Avenue, close to Highway 70. Upon arrival, officers determined that the victim, driving a Chevy S-10 southbound, veered into the northbound lanes, striking a Ford traveling in the opposite direction.
The impact was severe, and the 72-year-old Chevy driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Ford sustained major injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The condition of the Ford’s driver has not been disclosed.
Investigation
CHP officials said the cause of the crash is still under investigation, and no other details have been confirmed at this time. Authorities are working to determine whether factors such as speed, road conditions, or impairment contributed to the deadly collision.
The crash caused traffic delays in the area, with officers temporarily closing portions of Feather River Boulevard as investigators examined the scene. CHP urged drivers in the vicinity to exercise caution and remain alert while emergency crews were on-site.
