Woburn, MA – A serious crash involving a utility pole left one driver badly injured Thursday night in Woburn, Massachusetts. Authorities say the incident occurred at the Route 38 rotary, sending firefighters and police to the scene in what quickly became a high-intensity rescue operation.

According to the Woburn Fire Department, crews were dispatched at around 8:45 p.m. following reports that a vehicle had struck a pole and caught fire. The first responders arrived within moments, only to find the driver trapped inside the car as flames spread from the engine compartment across the debris field.
“The first crew was on scene within moments and immediately began rescue operations,” the fire department said in a social media post.
Photos shared by the department showed the vehicle’s front end destroyed, with the pole pushed through the windshield, highlighting the severity of the impact.
Rescue Efforts
Firefighters immediately worked to extinguish the flames while simultaneously using the Jaws of Life to free the trapped driver. The coordinated effort between fire and rescue personnel ensured the driver could be removed safely despite the fire and debris surrounding the vehicle.
