Fremont & San Leandro, CA – Four individuals were arrested Friday afternoon after a police chase connected to a robbery in Fremont ended in a crash in San Leandro, authorities confirmed.
Robbery Reported in Fremont
Around 12:30 p.m. Friday, law enforcement responded to a report that a person had been robbed outside a bank on Mission Boulevard in Fremont. The victim provided police with a description of the suspects, which helped authorities begin tracking them.
Suspects Tracked and Chase Begins
Using automatic license plate readers, officers located the suspects’ vehicle. When police attempted to stop the car, the driver fled, initiating a high-speed chase northbound on Interstate 880.
The pursuit continued into San Leandro, where the vehicle eventually came to a stop. All four suspects attempted to flee on foot but were quickly apprehended by officers. Items belonging to the victim were recovered from the vehicle, confirming their connection to the Fremont robbery.
Additional Robbery Connection
Police later determined that the suspects were involved in a similar robbery in a nearby city earlier on Friday, indicating a pattern of criminal activity.
Vehicle Crashes During Pursuit
Authorities reported that the suspect vehicle was involved in one crash on the highway and two additional crashes on San Leandro streets during the pursuit. Thankfully, no injuries were reported as a result of the incidents.
