Illegal Drug Hub Busted in Dyker Heights; Authorities Seize Nearly 1,000 Pounds of Narcotics

Brooklyn, NY – Authorities conducted a major takedown on Friday in Dyker Heights, seizing nearly 1,000 pounds of illegal marijuana and other drugs, along with $500,000 in cash, two unlicensed firearms, and five vehicles. The operation took place at the Dyker Gardens Condominiums on 63rd Street near 13th Avenue.

Luxury Building Targeted for Illegal Activity

Deputy Mayor for Public Safety, Kaz Daughtry, commented on the operation, saying, “For them to pick this building to operate an illegal **safe house, storage house, and distribution center – we are not playing.” The luxury complex, located between two schools in the residential area, was being used to conceal a large-scale drug operation.

Arrests Made

Police arrested four men and two women during the raid. As of Friday evening, authorities had not released their names. Residents expressed shock at the discovery.

“I’m surprised because it’s a safe neighborhood, and I didn’t expect this to happen in this area,” said Wing Cheung, a resident of the building told a local news outlet.

Officials revealed that the suspects were using seven separate apartments as a hub for drug trafficking and money laundering, blending in with the unsuspecting community.

“Seven apartments? No, never heard of it,” said Cheung. “Everyone here is super nice and friendly. It’s mostly families that live here.”

Child Found in One Apartment

Along with the six arrests, authorities discovered that one child was living in one of the condos. The child has now been placed in ACS care for safety.

This bust highlights the challenges law enforcement faces when illegal operations hide in plain sight in residential areas.
