College Point, Queens, NY — Partial human skeletal remains, including a skull, hip bone, and leg bone, were discovered near a busy Queens strip mall Monday afternoon, authorities said. The discovery comes just a week after sanitation workers found a woman’s torso in a trash bag elsewhere in the borough.
Location of the Discovery
The remains were recovered at 134-01 20th Ave., College Point, situated behind a chain-link fence and across from a large parking lot featuring popular stores such as ShopRite, Target, HomeGoods, and TJ Maxx, according to a preliminary NYPD investigation.
Police Response
NYPD officers and homicide squad detectives spent the afternoon examining the scene. No arrests have been made, and police say the investigation is ongoing.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is working to determine the cause of death for the skeletal remains.
Connection to Earlier Discovery
This shocking discovery comes just one week after Sanitation Department workers found a dismembered woman’s torso in a blue trash bag along their early morning route. The bag was sealed with tape and rope, prompting the workers to immediately alert the NYPD.
Authorities have not yet located the victim’s head or other body parts. The NY Post reported that the investigators are using distinct tattoos, including a cluster featuring three names, to help identify the woman.
Ongoing Investigation
Police continue to investigate both incidents in Queens, hoping to establish whether the skeletal remains are connected to the earlier torso discovery. Detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist with the investigation.
